Ash Carr is a Leeds based, Doncaster bred DJ, Producer. Originally starting out as a DJing in 1999, Ash quickly became bored of playing other peoples music and eventually began producing his own tracks in the early 00’s after joining a music production course at a local recording studio. After enjoying the introverted success of creating music for himself, Ash began producing and performing live jungle and drum’n’bass sets under the guise of Ash Static. In addition to forging his own path as a live electronic artist, Ash was also one third of a techno, drum’n’bass band known as The Action Kids.
Fast forward a few years and Ash was studying Music and New Media Technology at Leeds Met where he discovered Leeds’s thriving house and techno scene. It didn’t take long for Ash to begin running and promoting his own parties throughout Leeds’s alternative and underground venues with a real emphasis on playing nothing but the best House, techno and disco. It was during this period where Ash really honed his skills as both a DJ and Producer.
After finishing University, Ash bounced between both underground and commercial club residences before settling down to focus on producing high quality house, techno and nu disco with soulful and minimal elements backed up with deep and dirty bass lines. Ash’s main influences stem from artists such as Joey Negro, Kerrier District AKA Luke Vibert, Jimmy Edgar and Motor City Drum Ensemble.
